Adductor longus

Origin

Body of the pubis below the pubic crest.

Insertion

Middle third of the linea aspera.

Action

Adducts the thigh and flexes it from the anatomical position; forms part of the floor of the adductor canal.

Nerve supply

Anterior division of the obturator nerve (L2–L4).

Blood supply

Profunda femoris (femoral) artery.

Clinical relevance

The most commonly strained groin muscle; its pubic origin is involved in athletic pubalgia, and it forms the medial wall of the femoral triangle.
